James did some work for me installing structural support and subfloor in a fix/flip house I purchased. I cannot stress enough how good he was! He knew exactly what needed to be done and got everything done exactly as discussed and was very professional and easy to work with. I'd highly recommend him to anyone needing help with a project at their house.

We were extremely happy with James' work including some novel ideas for shoring up our exterior wall when some framing work was needed on our load-bearing wall die to termite damage. We were surprised though when he repaired the damaged framing with dimensional lumber that was not flush to the old framing and drywall. He said that was the drywall contractor's job. We though he should have ripped the new framing to the old and our drywall said he has never had to make the framing even before installing drywall. So, we have an unexpected task for the drywall contractor to complete. A bit of a surprise that we did not even think of asking James about. Better communication would have helped.

Details: I'm just starting • Dining or family room • Repair existing structure • Yes, load-bearing structures are involved • Less than 500 sq ft • Home

James and crew built a beautiful garden shed for us this summer. He came up with the design/build from several pictures I shared from Pinterest. The shed is just what we wanted! A dry place to store our garden tools with a carport for a dog kennel and potting bench. He also built a dog enclosure with composite panels and pressure treated wood. His work is top notch and we appreciated his attention to detail and quick response. We would highly recommend James and his crew!

Details: Sketches or a basic idea • New custom construction • Less than 500 sq ft • Home • I am the owner

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We recently replaced a foundation on a house flip in Portland. The homeowner noticed the floor was sloped about 4” from one side of the kitchen to the other. When we got under the floor we found that the house was held up by significantly insufficient framing including a small log one might toss in the fireplace (which our customer did consider once we pulled it out). We ended up needing to replace the foundation on one side of the house entirely and found some fun relics from the 1920s when the house was built. The replacement took a few weeks as additional repair work was discovered along the way. We had a great time with our homeowner who made great progress with the remodel in a short amount of time.
