FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

For maintenance gardening we charge $65/hr. Different gardens require drastically different amounts of maintenance per month based on the types of plantings, amount of hardscape and the size of the garden. For example, a 2600 sq. ft. garden with moderate maintenance needs requires about 10 hours of maintenance per month during the busier growing season. However, during late fall and winter, maintenance hours are greatly reduced.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Opal's rebloom began with horticulture classes attended at Texas A&M and Merritt College in Oakland, CA. All sorts of learning experiences followed: garden design and drafting classes, specialty plant propagation with Kiamara Ludwig, garden work for other professionals, and the ongoing training provided by my own backyard test garden and nursery where I explore plant species novel to the nursery trade. Arry received aesthetic training through his BA program in ceramics at SUNY New Paltz, culminating in a sculptural thesis discussing the relationship between nature and humanity. He later worked as foreman and lead carpenter for a small contractor specializing in new build ADUs. Arry's long kept an edible garden and has been learning the ins and outs of ornamental gardening from Opal over the past 2 years while the two of them develop their home garden together.
