FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Fees: Notarization fees are tricky and can quickly become expensive. However, the fee itself is straightforward and is set by State Statute, specifically ORS 194.400. This law states that the fee is $10.00 per notarial act, and numerous acts may be involved with the instrument presented for notarization. A good example of this would be if the instrument lacked specific notarial language; the notary public would then need you to select a “loose certificate” to meet the notarial language requirement. So, what would have been a $10.00 signing becomes a $20.00 signing because two notarial acts were performed. 1) Notarization of the signature, and 2) selection of certificate. Mileage: Other fees collected from the Notary Public are mileage fees. The 2025 Federal Mileage Rate is $0.70 per mile and is often charged round-trip. Minimum Rate: $25.00 or the total mileage rate, whichever is greater, but not both. Tihs fee is in addition to the notary fee(s). After-hours, emergency signings, hospital/care facility, etc., $50.00 Tihs fee is in addition to the notary fee(s).
