Kelley Ahlstrom, known as Bunny, has been providing private piano and voice lessons since 2013. Initially teaching at Clarendon Hills Music Academy in the Chicago land area, she has now moved to the Pacific Northwest and established her own online studio. Holding a bachelor's degree in music and possessing extensive teaching and performance experience, Bunny is well-equipped to help you achieve your musical goals. Lessons are virtual over zoom with a lucrative split screen experience. Bunny customizes sheet music, play along practice tracks and vocal warm up exercise tracks to fit each students' level. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced professional, Bunny will meet you where you're at! All ages welcome. But what's with the name "Bunny"? Kelley is deeply passionate about rabbits and shares her home with two beloved bunnies, Benji and Tuvok. Recognizing that rabbits are often abandoned or mistreated, she is committed to establishing a sanctuary to care for those in need—whether due to medical challenges, rescue from testing, or other circumstances. Kelley is a great teacher and person in general. As someone with zero technical vocal training, I was skeptical how much lessons would really change the sound of my voice. Now, I can say certainly, I was so wrong. Kelley's helped me improve substantially over just the last half year, catering to my individual needs and requests while continually improving the sound of my voice. My 8-year-old daughter has been taking weekly piano and vocal lessons on Zoom with Ms. Kelley for a year. She went from sleeping through previous piano classes to truly loving her lessons! Ms. Kelley is patient and uses great teaching methods that make learning fun, interactive, and productive. Not only has my daughter improved her skills, but she has also developed a love for piano - she even practices piano on her own throughout the week without needing reminders!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer three options for lesson durations: 30 minute lessons priced at $42, 45 minute lessons are priced at $55 and 60 minute lessons priced at $65. The 30 minute session is offered to piano students only. Piano students may also choose a 45 minute or 60 minute lesson. But vocalists must choose between the 45 minute session or the 60 minute session. You may also do bi-weekly 60 minute sessions. This allows for us to warm-up your voice, learn new techniques and work songs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Upon receiving a request from a prospective student on Thumbtack, I will promptly work with you to schedule a time. You must also respect and understand my policies. These policies allow me to keep my business up and running and help as many students as possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in Contemporary, Urban and Popular music from Chicago's Columbia College. I also worked in various piano bars around the country, such as well known Howl at the Moon, performing 4 nights a week for several years. In addition, I have been teaching private lessons since 2013.
