FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate of $100 first hour and $85/ hr after hat was last applied 12 years ago. The current cost of fuel, insurance, overhead, advertising... has increased since then. However, the amount of people I serve has increased as well. An increase in rates may come quickly. Or as I prefer much later. The common parts I provide are usually aftermarket equals. This also keeps final prices down. A current consideration since 2013 is the Chang/over from R22 in AC & Refrigeration to some of the replacements that will still work with R22 oil and piping. As of 2017 R22 will no longer be made for the USA Market. Only other countries will be able to manufacture & use it. I'm sure all people in the USA feel and breath better knowing this. And the current price of R22 had been reported to me in some local markets to be over $100/pound. Our replacement recommended for AC R22 is around $20/pound.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Several AC manufacturers including Rheem, American Standard, Carrier, Bryant, Trane, Coleman, Evcon, Revolve, York, Armstrong, Mitsubishi, mini Split, Comfortmaker, Heil, Whirlpool, Tappan, Climate Master, and several other HVAC Manufacturers. Several Refrigeration Manufacturers including Ice O Matic, Manitowoc, Scotsman, Whirlpool, Hoshizaki, True and several others. If it heats or cools I will make an honest effort to repair your heating or cooling equipment or offer a reason why I can not do it and recommend replacing it. Usually the repair option is agreeable to both of us but you are the boss and can decide with knowledge and confidence in your decision once we both understand the options and costs clearly.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I all ways wanted a person I hired to consider why I am repairing a piece of equipment rather than replacing it. For the repairman to ask me about the history of the equipment and if I had an idea of how long I would expect a repair to last. And also to tell me what the average time would be for a repair of this type to last. So I did my own repairs. Offering to do the same for others with these questions in mind. .
