FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My estimates are based on my assessment of how long a mural will take to paint, at $85 per hour. This generally works out to be around $5 per square foot for background work, and $15 to $20 per square foot for detailed work, This is for a flat wall, at ground level. Anything higher than 7 feet high will be take a little longer, and will therefore be a little more expensive. Other costs may include design and preparation costs, and travel expenses if over 100 miles away. The level of detail required will depend on both my clients wishes, and their budget, and the viewing distance the mural will be seen from. You can see the cost estimate for each of the individual paintings in my Tractor Yard mural in my sample photos. To get an idea of the size of these, the standard door frames painted on are 7 feet door frames.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My customers provide drawings, photos, or just ideas of what they want. I reply with draft images of what the artwork would look like, with an estimate of how much that would cost. I make adjustments as necessary and begin the work.
