Basically, all my cousin really knew was that he wanted to play drums and he likes the music from Rock Band. As someone who's grown up with these games and can play the guitar, I understand why a lot of people prefer to just play the video game. It takes less time, it's a lot of fun, and the points system is rewarding. I honestly wasn't sure if my cousin would continue to want to take drum lessons after having the test of the real thing because sometimes the real instrument can be fun in it's own way too, it really is just sometimes more fun to play the game. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I've been playing the guitar for over ten years and still indulge in the fun of Guitar Hero, haha! So color me elated when I find out later that my cousin is inspired to not only practice more but that he also wants to upgrade his drumset and continue to improve his skills. I've watched how Cameron engages with my cousin and he's really nice and helpful while also continuing to challenge him to play harder parts on the drums. I think he's helped inspire my cousin to pursue his studies in playing the drums and I think that's the best a student can hope for.

I am a non-traditional student in that I started taking drum lessons in my 40's, have no musical background, and have limited time due to family obligations. Cameron has taught me the basics of reading music and playing the drums. He has been extremely patient and is good at explaining things. The lessons are enjoyable and tailored to the type of music I want to learn to play.

Cameron is great! Every lesson he comes with new material to challenge me and make me better and is also very accommodating to my schedule. I have been getting lessons from cameron for about a year and I can see a huge amount of improvement in my drumming.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to establish a firm line of communication and address the needs of both the player and/or parents before starting lessons. I like to focus on what the student is looking to accomplish with the services I have to provide.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Piedmont High School where I participated in the marching, concert, and jazz bands and percussion ensemble. I am currently a graduate student at Oklahoma City University studying in composition and percussion performance. I am a regular player at a church in Piedmont, so I’ve had about five years of on-the-job experience in church gigging.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began drumming in middle school in the school band. I progressed through marching band and percussion ensemble in high school and knew that I wanted to continue studying in college.
