FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fee is a flat fee, and covers all legal services and most out-of-pockets costs — I won't charge you for mileage, postage or credit reports. However, the court does charge a separate filing fee of $335 for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and $310 for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. This is not included in my quoted fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free in-person (or over the phone) consultation, which usually lasts about 30-45 minutes, depending on how many questions you have, and how complicated your situation is. At our meeting we will discuss what options are available (and which I recommend for that person). If we decide to proceed with a bankruptcy, I will the rest of your documents, and I will need you to take a special "bankruptcy credit counseling class." This can be done online or over the phone, and I will give you more information about it. Unfortunately, bankruptcy attorneys cannot —by law— accept any fees from you after filing the case, so I will need to be paid in full before we can file. We can discuss payment options and strategies in our meeting. In order to file a bankruptcy case, I will need several documents from you, such as pay stubs, tax returns, car titles, and bank statements. I'll give you a detailed list during our meeting. We will then meet one more time to review all the court documents that I prepared, to make sure that everything is true, correct, and complete. Once you sign and approve the documents, I can file them electronically with the courthouse the same day!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed attorney in both Oklahoma and California. I am originally from California and began practicing law there in 2008, but moved to Oklahoma in 2014. After moving here, I was admitted to practice in federal court in Oklahoma City (where bankruptcy cases are filed), and I also took and passed the Oklahoma Bar Exam. I am also licensed as a real estate broker with the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. I am a member of the Bankruptcy Section of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, and regularly attend meetings to continue to learn more about bankruptcy.
