FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was about 14 when I got my first job as a housekeeper. I had a neighbor down the street who was elderly and hadn't been feeling so great. She kept an immaculate home, so it was distressing to her to not be able to dust it properly and take out old newspapers, etc. One weekend, seeing her struggling to take out the garbage, my best friend and I offered to help her. She asked us if we might help her with a few other things around the house while she recovered. We made $25.00 that day and thought we were rich - haha! Every weekend we spend a few hours helping her and loved it, especially on days she made cookies! As I got older and wanted things all teenagers desire - their own phone and a car - I took more jobs doing chores to achieve my goals. Years later and I now own and operate my own company, and it still supports me in achieving my goals only this time it's getting my Masters Degree!

- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't always be sucked in that super low price - see what the going rates are from several companies - corporate and independent. See what the average going rate is and then select a housekeeper based on who offers the most of what you're looking for. Then, ask about Specials and Discounts to help get those rates down. When inviting someone into your home to clean, you want quality work from someone reputable at a fair price - not cheap work that was cheap. Just be smart - do your homework when hiring.
