FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Simplest way to say it, the more involved the return the more expensive. Something such as a 1040-EZ would be $90 for the filing of the Federal, State & Local returns. If someone were married filing jointly, with multiple W2s, homeowners and had some stock transactions, price would be $335-350. Others could be in between or above that. All depends on complexity....and a little bit on timing.....
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Call/email to set up a time to meet. Forward them my Client Data Sheet by email for completion prior to meeting. Generally have us meet someplace public, but fine doing it in their home. Have them collect information together to allow us to be effective managers of time when together. Collect information. Work on the return. Have working understanding of status of return within 48 hrs. Chat with customer via phone or email. Make payment arrangements (can be collected at time of meeting). File return. Forward copy of return electronically after acknowledgement of receipt by the taxing authorities (Fed, State, etc).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an Enrolled Agent. An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. I do at least 16 hours of continuing education every year. Each year, I recertify through the IRS on regarding the Earned Income Tax Credit. Additionally, I take courses or attend conferences through organizations such at the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) and others.
