Kate and the FSG team are wonderful to work with. Kate is deeply knowledgeable about native plants, garden design, local resources, and project management. We began with a consultation, including an assessment of the current gardens, useful advice, and answers to all of my questions. Next was a new design for a large portion of the property, followed by multiple phases of installation. Throughout, everyone at FSG has been kind and flexible. Communication has been prompt and thorough, with care to answer all of my questions at each step. The installation itself was efficient and professional, and the team was able to adapt to all of the surprises an old house could supply.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We charge a $65 fee for an hour long consultation. Additionally, as we are based in Troy, any jobsite more than 30 minutes outside of Troy will have a travel expense fee.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The process typically is as follows: we come do an initial on-site consultation and provide you with an estimate for our services. We'll then schedule a site analysis in which we gather measurements and information which would dictate the approach and direction of the project. With that, we head to the drafting table and start the design work. Once the design gets your approval and all the necessary materials have been sourced and gathered we begin project installation.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Kate Brittenham holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Skidmore College and a Certificate in Landscape Design from the New York Botanical Garden.
