Eli personally prosecuted the same types of cases he is now defending. Since he knows how the prosecutor will likely handle your case, Eli has a better idea how to better defend your case to get you the best outcome. The firm handles ALL types of criminal cases: MISDEMEANORS (ex. DWI, assault, Domestic Violence, shoplifting, weapons, etc); FELONIES (ex. gun possession, attempted murder, sexual assault, robbery, grand larceny, burglary, etc.); and federal cases. Part of Eli's time as a prosecutor with the DA's office was spent in the SEX CRIMES UNIT. In addition to prosecuting both felony and misdemeanor cases, he also handled many pre-arrest investigations and he is aware of many of the tactics utilized by detectives prior to the arrest being made. With regard to DWI cases, Eli has standardized field sobriety test (SFST) training that most attorneys do not have. This is the same/similar certification that police officers must get to properly administer field sobriety tests. What this means is that because he is trained and certified on how to PROPERLY administer SFSTs, he can point out all the mistakes the police officer likely made in your case. If the SFSTs weren't administered properly, Eli can try to suppress the tests or effectively cross-examine the police officer on the things he did wrong. Given Eli's unique experience handling criminal matters from both sides, he has a much better idea of how your case will be handled by the prosecutor and how to properly assess the strengths and weaknesses of the case. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a former prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, widely regarded as one of the best DA's offices in the country. There I was trained by some of the finest prosecutors on the ins and outs of prosecuting a case from the very beginning up to and including jury trials.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Some of our clients and their families find us immediately after the client is arrested and we handle the case from the very beginning. Many of our other clients hire us after they’ve been working with a public defender or prior attorney and are dissatisfied with the quality of their representation. We then take over the case and properly advise the client how to best resolve their case.
