(Nick) Empire Pressure Washing complaint on Thumbtack: I filled out the work order via Thumbtack indicating we needed our siding and roof cleaned. I chose this business because of the price he replied with to do the job. We spoke on the phone and Nick told me he viewed our home, which surprised me but I thought it was good that he was able to do that via the internet so he knew the size of the job. He rescheduled a couple of times due to the cold weather and wind, which I do not hold against him. When we paid him after, the amount he told me was $10 more than the original quote but I accepted it since it was a cold day to be working with spraying water (though it was his choice to do the job in late November). We were most interested in our roof stains being removed, as my husband has cleaned the siding before. After the roof dried, we could see that it was no different than before. I contacted Nick recently and he said he didn’t clean our roof- that he doesn’t clean roofs- later saying he only cleans roofs on ranches. Not only did he not tell me when I requested roof cleaning that he wouldn’t do it, but when I paid him and I asked about the roof he hesitated (which I thought was odd) but then said something indicating he did clean it. In a message recently (I hoped he’d rectify the problem via partial refund) he said it would have been $200 more for a roof cleaning, but again- I requested both the roof and siding- nowhere did he indicate it was for the siding only. I told him I wouldn’t have hired him if he didn’t do the roof and that I needed that peace of mind as I had just begun cancer treatment, trying to impress upon him the problem this has caused. He proceeded to tell me about how he fell off a ladder and needed surgery, as if that justifies why he gave me a quote based on a siding and roof request and then didn’t clean our roof. As for the siding, it was cleaned well. The windows were spotty despite Nick telling me via messaging that they’d be clean after, but that is a minor issue compared with not cleaning the roof as expected, hence the 2 star review. Included are screenshots of the initial request, showing I requested the roof be cleaned, too, and his quote with my questioning about the windows, which were left streaky (typo in that message should read “concerned”). He told me over the phone that the windows would be clean.
