FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a pricing system that is similar to other designers. I also price match but I need to see the actual estimate. Some designers might offer a lower grade material and that is why there is different pricing. I offer a fee home consultation and this is where we sit down and discuss the job details. We see if this is a fit for both of us. I like to offer suggestions and see if we click. If we are on the same page and would like to move forward, I send a contract outlining the job scope and retainer. I send in my contractors to bid on the project. I then create a design concept, do a presentation of a design solution. I submit a preliminary timeline, budget which includes contractor agreements. Once you approve we move forward with the design and installation of your project. I typically charge an hourly rate for my design time which includes job site visits, meeting with contractors, drafting construction documents, research, ordering or specifying materials, furnishing, lighting, finishes etc. This is separate from your contractual agreement with contractors. I come up with the design solution choose the finishes, they install them. There is a markup for furniture, finishes, equipment, lighting but it is always at or below retail pricing. This is where I can offer some discounts. Please ask me about this. I work with middle to high end furniture companies. For smaller jobs, I can offer a flat fee and that is just a small fee to cover the expense of doing the job or paying for my time. You still have to pay for materials, installation etc. Please note, it is impossible to set any kind of exact fee without seeing the job. I think you should speak with me in person to discuss your job so I can see what you are talking about. I can ask more important questions that are necessary to give you a fair and honest estimate. Anyone can give you a low ball price to get the job but that is not fair to anyone including you. If you are interested in my Interior Design services, please call my office to discuss a convenient time to meet to discuss your project. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
