I was an adjunct faculty at New York University Vocal Performance Program and currently serve as the owner of SAKI Vocal Studio, a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and New York Singing Teacher's Association (NYSTA). I received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. I am passionate about helping my students to develop the best possible version of "their" voice, finding range, flexibility, and freedom without ever losing their unique qualities.
At New York University and SAKI Vocal Studio, I have been teaching private voice lessons to beginner to advanced singers for many years now. My goal is to find your authentic voice enhanced by breath and resonance so you can sing in a healthy way across the genres (classical, music theater, pop/rock, R&B/hip-hop, jazz/soul, country, etc). And I really enjoy working with various artists such as musical theater actors, recording artists, singer songwriters, opera singers, church soloists, Vtubers, voice actors, and professional speakers. If you are interested in Japanese songs, I am happy to teach them too. Also, as a professional voice actor, I can teach voice for acting and public speaking. I will cater my lessons to your needs!
I also studied voice science (vocology) through the NYU Voice Center under the SLPs and Laryngologists, so I understand how the vocal system works. I will provide explanations that make sense using anatomy and physiology!
My teaching style is “taller-made” for each student and their development. Since we are all on different levels, I listen to each individual and try to figure out exactly what they need. I aim to help each of my students gain the balance of technique and expression to become a truthful storyteller. In our lessons, we will focus on:
*Breathing and posture
*Healthy vocal placement
*Expanding your range and increasing flexibility
*Breath support
*Blending registers (chest, mix, head, falsetto)
*Articulation & diction
*Singing techniques (vibrato, legato, leap, belt, riffs/runs, vocal fry etc)
*Interpretation of lyrics
*Musicianship (note, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, reading sheet music)
*Vocal health and sustainability
*Public speaking and presentation skills (persuasive and impactful ways to speak for your audience)
*Narration and voiceover (variety, character voices)
*Vocal tools to quickly develop your proprioception
*Recording settings and tips
*Audition preparation
I have helped my students develop their full potential and get a step closer to their dreams. I will explain everything clearly and easily as small changes can make a big difference in singing! And not every technique works for everyone, because not every student has the same instruments, strengths, and goals.
I am really passionate about teaching and sharing what I have learned as a singer and actor. Most importantly, I always create a safe space for you to explore your voice and share your craft. Let's work together to unlock your voice and open up the world of possibility!
*I am currently offering only online lessons. Our lessons are available via Zoom or any other online platform we can both access, and are possible across all time zones!
