Introduction

I studied at the VMS Music School in Suriname and later attended Berklee College of Music, where I learned from John Ramsey, author of the Alan Dawson Rudiments book. I also had the opportunity to take classes with Alan Dawson before his passing. My experience includes touring with various artists across diverse styles, including South American, North American, Caribbean, and African rhythms. This background enables me to help my students develop a broad musical feel while focusing on their preferred styles.

You could learn the drums anywhere, but not like you would with Harvey. He is, first and foremost, a top tier drummer and musician who has a great wealth of knowledge and years of experience. Secondly, he is a kind, patient man who really tries to get the best out of his students. He would show me an exercise for example that seemed silly to me at the time, that years later I found myself practicing and teaching my own students because it WORKS! I studied with him for around 7 years as a preteen and teenager. I remember his lessons TO THIS VERY DAY (I'm 36 now) and use his methods to perform regularly and teach the occasional student. I could not recommend Harvey any more highly!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My Rate as displayed is for online classes and students willing to travel to my studio. In case I need to travel to the student for in person teaching, I will add the necessary costs. I am open for negotiations or reduce the time in able to make it more affordable for the student.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing I do is to check the level of the student in terms of experience and technique and then take it from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have done a general course in teaching (AVF) in Suriname, Studied at te Berklee College of Music in MA and have years of experience in teaching privately as well as teaching at the Milton Academy in MA and the Swarnabhoomi Academy in India
