Introduction
With over 30 years of playing experience, and 15 years of teaching experience I’ve spent most of my life immersed in music. A native New Yorker, I began my musical training at Mannes Pre-College, and then attended the LaGuardia High School of Music, Art and Performing Arts. I hold a Masters in Music from Boston Conservatory, and a Bachelors in Music from the Hartt School of Music. I received my Suzuki Certification in Violin from School for Strings, although I accept both Suzuki and traditional violin students. I’m an active freelancer, and have played in venues such as Merkin Hall, National Gallery of the Arts, and the Apollo Theater. Most recently I appeared with Mannheim Steamroller at the Palace Theater in Connecticut. As a teacher I strive to create a positive environment in which my students can grow. As no two people are alike, no two lessons that I give are the same, and I aim to tailor my lessons to the specific needs of each student. I focus on technique, sound production, and musicality. Most of all I encourage my students to uncover and enjoy their unique voice on the violin or piano. Music is a language, and for both the young and old it should be a fun and rewarding discovery.

Allison is an amazing violin teacher! As a recent college graduate with no prior knowledge of the violin, I was looking for a teacher who could help me learn quickly without overwhelming me. Allison is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable teacher who has great patience while also always propelling my playing forward. She is very approachable and encouraging, and I look forward to every lesson!

Ms. Allison was a very responsible and professional teacher for me. She knows how to nurture her students, and without being strict, her ways gets students to play easily. Her kind nature allows students to learn more fluently and I would recommend her to anybody willing to learn Violin or Piano. Honestly, out of the four teachers I've had, she is the best out of all of them.

Professional, calm, not intimidating, respectful to her students, accommodating when necessary! She taught our daughter from grade 1 to 8. My daughter never wanted to or asked to skip the class! Teacher who knows how to develop mutual, respectful and productive relationship with her students!

I have taken lessons with Allison McNeal for about four years. We've gone through Suzuki books 4 to 7, as well as expanding into other violin literature. I never thought I'd be able to play this well! Thank you Allison!
