I feared for my life. My move was scheduled for 8 a.m. (photo for proof). Movers arrived at 10 a.m. Ibra (dispatcher) told me I was wrong until he looked at my contract. No apology offered and attitude/excuses given. Movers were quick getting my belongings onto the truck. They were pleasant and diligent. Because of two hour delay, I risked missing an appointment. So, I began moving boxes, securing the elevator, grabbing hand trucks, etc. Because of this, I didn't have time to go to ATM. Upon completion of my move, Ibra attempted to extort more money out of me. Saying I owed $300 more than I did. Once corrected, he made no concession for his team being two hours late or for helping move boxes to remain on schedule. Not happy, I paid them because I wanted the situation over. The foreman then asked me for their tip. I had no cash and asked if he had CashApp or Venmo. He wanted me to use Zelle. I told him I would transfer money that day but had to run to appointment. That's when things fell apart. One of the movers began curing saying, "B*tch is not going to f*cking pay us!" When I asked the foreman what the issue was, he said "Nothing." But the mover kept talking, walking closer to my car. The mover said, "You should have gone to the bank ahead of time. You knew you were moving." He went on to say that, "This job is hard enough. You didn't even offer us water or anything." Funny thing is I gave the foreman two gallons of water and cups when we left my apartment but he never shared it with his team. As a black woman being yelled at by a white man, I felt beyond uncomfortable. I reported the incident to thumbtack immediately and they did nothing but talk to the owner. CCS moving fired the mover whose name is Rob. And offered me a $50 credit. But nothing else was done. (see emails as proof) Was it one bad apple? Sure. But the crew told me that Rob has a history of doing this. They were the ones who encouraged me to report it because they didn't like working with him. HOWEVER, none of the crew came to my rescue. They sat back and let Rob verbally abuse me and come into my physical space. Find another company. It's not worth the risk.

Wow this was the worst moving experience of my life. SAVE YOURSELF AND CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY. First off, they were 2.5 hours late and made us miss the window of time we had the elevator in our building reserved. Then they came with a truck that wasn't big enough (I guess the other truck got stuck somewhere else?). They came with only 2 guys when we paid for 3 guys. They broke a mirror right off the bat. The worst part was that EVERYTHING DIDN'T FIT IN THE TRUCK. I understand that we underscoped the move when booking it, but when the movers (who are SUPPOSED to be professionals) realized everything wouldn't have fit, they should have COMMUNICATED WITH US. They did NOT. They told us: "The truck is full, everything else has to stay here". WHAT?! The main reason we hired movers was the get the big sectional couch out of the apartment and they couldn't get the big part of the couch in the elevator (because the TWO guys had trouble putting it in the elevator, when we had originally PAID for 3). We ended up having to pay to stay another night in the apartment AND pay another moving company the next day to get the rest of the stuff out. Worth noting that the movers we had to hire for the next day had no trouble at all moving the couch. To top it off all, ERIC AND IBRAHIM WERE SO RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I understand Eric seemed to be having a rough day, but taking that out on the client is completely unbecoming. When we sat down to sign paperwork, Eric wrote that they started moving at 4:30 PM. I argued that they really started at 4:45 - not that 15 minutes was a huge deal. But when I pointed it out to him, Eric seriously lost it on me. He kept yelling and escalating his voice. I kept asking him to please stop yelling. He kept getting more and more upset and rambling on about how he doesn’t have to be here & how he could be home with his daughter & how the day has been so stressful. He had some valid points, but to continuously YELL them at me was so upsetting and terrifying. I kept asking him to stop yelling and he kept escalating it and raising his voice until the breaking point -- he THREATENED US to leave with all our stuff and actually stormed out of the apartment and left. I had to track him down and profusely apologize to him to calm him down EVEN THOUGH HE WAS THE ONE YELLING AT ME, THE CLIENT. To top it ALL off at the end, they broke both my dressers (I had asked them if I should tape them up and they said "Nah", then all the drawers fell out of one in the truck bc it wasn't stored properly; the other one they pulled the top clean off of it because they were lifting from the top - now both dressers are unusable and I think I lost some important paperwork that was in one of the drawers). DO NOT MOVE WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE CROOKS, THEY ARE RUDE, AND THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS.

Dear Mohammed, This is in response to your review on Thumbtack. There is some confusion in the details of your move. The quote we provided you was for 2 men and for half of the inventory that was originally provided to us. We did not charge for 3 men as you mention in your review, we sent an additional man free of charge to help when we were notified that there was more inventory than previously stated when we booked the job. This also resulted in a smaller truck being sent to the pickup location which is why it is imperative that we know ALL the items that are being moved on the day of the job so that we can ensure everything will go smoothly. We however were not notified of any damage to any items otherwise we would have addressed it. If you would like to discuss further please call our office as there seems to be a big error in communication and the events that transpired. When last we spoke, you had mentioned you would be calling us back but we have not yet received a phone call on this. Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

The reason I give 5 stars: WORK QUALITY. I'd actually rate them 4.8 for very minor scratches on an item and on the wall but 5 stars is the closest to it. ;) Price (at the end...!) was a bit high and unexpected, in comparison to other quotes that were at least 200-300 dollars cheaper, at a certain point I felt they're working slower than they should work to extend the amount of time, and they also added a charge that wasn't discussed before, so I didn't pay the NICEST tip. Eric's reaction to my "tip" was not a way of class, he walked out with a seriously blowing face and didn't want to look at me as if... I appreciate your work and thank you for moving me on New Year! As soon as the movers got to my house, the guys saw wardrobe boxes which contained clothing and automatically charged me an additional $156. Did they not expect me to rake my clothes? The leader claimed he didn't have boxes in his estimate. That set the tone for a bad taste in my mouth. The movers worked slowly, they also talked a whole lot in their language, which I find to be rude. I'm not sure where they were from, but I felt as if the talking slowed down the process of moving SOME of a two bedroom apartment down. It took them a total of 5 hours to pack up a bedroom set and living room and a fairly large desk. The last time I moved, the move was completed in less time. In total this move was 12 hours when it should have been no more than 5-6 hours. I am still finding little scratches and dents in my furniture where they may have hit it against something. When they got to my new place, they were tired but they picked up the pace a little. They tried to put my desk back together sloppily, with a panel placed on crooked, my husband immediately corrected that - they left two scratches on my freshly painted walls, the desk was damaged slightly, but not enough to file any type of claim (its just i be moved twice before and no one else ever damaged my stuff) and my dresser has a nice chunk of wood missing in the back. The most significant annoyance, was although these guys spoke in their language throughout the entire move, they expressed disappointment with my tip in English in front of my husband, which I really did not appreciate. They also almost left a small office cabinet and didn't have room in their truck for my office chair.

Hi Shantiese, For your move when my men arrived at your location there were 7 additional wardrobe boxes as well as 4 medium size boxes that had not been provided on the inventory list to us when we quoted the job. The addition of these boxes increased your cubic feet which was why the additional charge was incurred. Your move was from Teaneck, NJ to East Orange, NJ which is approximately 1 hour, however extra time was involved because we had to disassemble and reassemble the wardrobe closet and make sure it was wrapped safely and securely. The 4 glass tables and TV stand had to be wrapped in cardboard and blankets to ensure their safety. The particle board from the picture was also damaged and the men worked to move it as cautiously as possible. Additionally, there was a small elevator at the delivery address which slows down the process as only a limited number of items are allowed at one time. I have spoken with my men and reminded them that they should speak in English moving forward. I hope this clears up your misunderstanding of the fees for your move. Thank you, CCS Moving
