FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I constantly listen to new music. I spend many nights a week hearing live music performed by all ranges - up and coming musicians to NEA Jazz Masters. I think it's essential to stay current so I can bring these things into my lessons. I stay current on the current state of education in New York and jazz through various publications and newsletters as well.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I break down my lessons into three sections: technique, reading skills and drum set vocabulary. I always use those three prongs as my outline going into every lesson and adjust from there. For younger students, I primarily work on familiarizing them with the drum set and building fundamental skills. For older students, a lot of my focus has been on preparing them for school or college.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise students to seek out a teacher that they would like to sound like.
