Sarah Cambidge, Voice Instructor

In my studio, I provide comprehensive instruction in voice, music theory, beginner piano, speech, and elocution. I also specialize in music and diction coaching, including Italian, French, German, Latin, and English, as well as the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Currently, I am a professional opera singer, performing across the United States and internationally. My recent engagements include appearances with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opéra National de Bordeaux in France, and the Staatstheater Karlsruhe in Germany. My training includes the Canadian Royal Conservatory of Music and both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the Lamont School of Music. I firmly believe that a strong classical technique and a robust musical foundation are essential for successful and expressive performance. As a dedicated educator, I serve as guest faculty at conservatories and universities across the country, where I conduct masterclasses and recitals. My teaching philosophy centers on vocal pedagogy and the development of free and easy vocal production, free from physical tension or detrimental habits. Each lesson is tailored to my students' unique needs, helping them discover and refine their individual gifts while building a solid classical foundation. In my studio, we emphasize correct posture, breath support, and ease of vocal production, as well as stage presence across a variety of genres, including classical, opera, musical theater, contemporary, pop, rock, country, jazz, folk, Christian, and gospel. My students range from young children to adults and seniors with diverse abilities and aspirations. I also specialize in preparing pre-college students for auditions and entrance into college music programs in both voice and theory.
