FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is transparent and tailored to the meticulous, high-quality editing your work deserves. I use a per-word rate for manuscripts and flat-rate packages for career services. Manuscript & Document Editing: Proofreading Only ($0.026 per word): This is your essential "last line of defense" for documents that are already well-structured but need a final review for errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Copy Editing ($0.036 per word): My most comprehensive service. This includes line editing to refine clarity, flow, and consistency while preserving your unique voice. This rate also includes a final proofreading pass. Career Strategy & Resume Services: I offer several flat-rate packages for Resume, Cover Letter, and LinkedIn Optimization to meet the needs of serious job seekers. Please message me for a custom quote based on your career level. Discounts & Fees: I offer discounts for repeat clients and for very large-scale projects. Priority "Rush" services are available for a fee if you have an urgent deadline for a launch or job application.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process is designed to be clear and collaborative to ensure your project's success: Initial Discussion: We’ll discuss your goals, audience, and timeline to determine if copy editing or proofreading is the best fit. Document Review & Quote: I’ll ask to see your document and confirm the total word count. Please upload files directly here in the Thumbtack chat for the fastest response. The Editing Phase: Once we move forward, I meticulously edit your document using Track Changes in Microsoft Word so you can see every refinement. The PDF Policy: Please note that I work exclusively in MS Word to ensure the highest quality. I do not perform standard edits on PDF files. If a project absolutely requires PDF editing, it is subject to a significantly higher premium rate due to the manual complexity involved. Delivery: I deliver the polished files by our agreed deadline and remain available for any follow-up questions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My foundation in language and communication is both academic and lifelong. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, graduating cum laude from Adelphi University, which provided me with strong analytical and research skills necessary to refine complex texts. Beyond my degree, I have over 25 years of hands-on professional experience in corporate settings. I am highly proficient with industry-standard tools, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word with Track Changes), Google Workspace, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. I also leverage professional-grade tools like Grammarly Premium as a "co-pilot" for routine consistency checks, allowing me to focus entirely on the nuanced flow and authorial voice that only a human expert can perfect. I excel at working with major style guides, including The Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS) and AP Style.
