FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We started Pet Sitters Club because of the love or our cats. We always struggled to find excellent care for our pets and decided to provide the service that we were looking for ourselves. While we both graduated with business backgrounds, we chose this profession because of our tremendous love for the animals in our lives. We truly love what we do every day an that shows in the quality of the service we provide.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Our clients want us to cater our visits to the same routines that that would use if they were home. ex. walk on a specific route that their dog is most familiar with. Make sure their pets water bowl has been refilled on each visit with fresh water from the tap or if they use bottled or filtered water than we would we would make sure that their dog would get a refreshing drink that way. If we see that a dog we are walking gets wet or dirty we would do our very best to either dry them off or clean them off, we would hate to see a clients home get dirty paw prints or water stains all over it. It is very important that a clients home should be watched over as well.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The three things you should look for in a Dog Walker/Pet Sitter are solid references, an established community presence, and whether their service is bonded and insured. When talking with a prospective Dog Walker/Pet Sitter ask them if they have provided their service to anyone you might know and be sure to follow up with those people. The best Dog Walker/Pet Sitters are animal lovers, ask them if they donate time or supplies to local shelters. Ask the Dog Walker/Pet Sitter who is their insurance carrier and what exactly does their insurance policy cover. Any Dog Walker/Pet Sitter who cannot fulfill all three of these criteria should be avoided as you are not only trusting them with access to your home you are also placing the safety of a family member in their hands.
