WHAT WE OFFER: Useful tools and bits of craft, in order to instill a creative and spontaneous way of working as an actor on set, in auditions, and in rehearsals. How to craft an impactful self-tape. Strategies for handling the emotional challenges and pressures of this business. The Business of the Biz & Accountability. Our classes are small in order to give individual attention to each participant. For many years we have worked with collective groups of colleagues on various projects to great results, and are now bringing that winning formula to you. Group Classes meet over Zoom for 3 hours once a week for 4 weeks. Private Classes are also available. ABOUT US (Martín Solá & Michelle Liu Coughlin): Martín has studied acting with some of the best teachers on the planet including Carol Rosenfeld (HB Studios), Freddy Kareman (Carnegie Hall). We both worked for many years with our mentor and teacher Charles Tuthill (NYU, SUNY, Atlantic Theater, Actor’s Center) until his untimely passing a few years ago. We have had the good fortune to work with Rob McCaskill over the past year. Martín has received the guidance, mentorship, and friendship of James Saito (Always Be My Maybe) for the past 25 years. Michelle has studied at The Barrow Group and taken on-camera technique classes with Tim Phillips, Ted Sluberski, Heidi Marshall, and Marci Phillips among others. She has devoted time to classes and workshops with many of the top casting agents in the business. Michelle and Martín created a professional and encouraging environment in which everyone felt free to take creative risks and hone their craft. In addition to working on the craft of acting they freely share their experiences and offer invaluable insights about the acting business. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I learned so much about my type, preparing scenes for auditions, how to submit to projects, formatting my resume. I took this class and could not speak higher praise for both Martin and Michelle. They brought such a different/valuable point of view to working on sides and audition scripts, stuff I had never even thought of. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Due to the pandemic, we are currently offering discounted rates: 4 Week Group Class (meets once a week for 2 1/2 - 3 hours) for $180 (normally $250) Private Sessions available for $80 per hour (normally $100) or 4 for $300
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We'll meet via Zoom. If you have material you'd like to work on, you would send it to us. If not, we'll assign something for you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have over 25 years of teaching and extensive performance experience on Broadway, off-Broadway, regional theatres, opera, TV, and Film. We offer solid core principles of acting, along with great insight into what is happening now on stage and screen, and in the audition room.
