Clay is amazing! I am very glad I found them as a guitar teacher. They are very knowledgable and are very good at explaining things in a way I understand. They have great ideas to help me stretch my skills and build new skills, and I'm learning some really cool songs I never thought I'd be able to play! They are even helping me with the technical side of things with learning to record and with songwriting. They are very friendly and professional and their lessons are very interactive, supportive, and fun. Thank you Clay for everything, you are the best!

Clay is patient and creates a warm environment where mistakes are welcome and used as learning opportunities. They do a wonderful job of helping students chart a path forward in their music journey. Claire is a fantastic teacher! They take the time to understand your goals and push you to become the best singer/songwriter/musician you can be. I wanted to improve my singing. Claire has shown me techniques and exercises to hit notes more deliberately and confidently — with support from the rest of my body. She explains the physiology of singing (and making vocal sounds in general), and points out useful ways and tricks to improve as a singer. Their instruction — casual and fun — is informed by and based on their classic training, an excellent ear, empathy, and a “you can do this!” attitude. They’re always on time, make expectations and instructions clear, and are super dependable. I highly recommend working with Claire if you want to be a better singer and, more generally, a better musician or songwriter! Claire is technically savvy, too, and can help grow your production skills. They provide thoughtful feedback that helps your tracks become more emotive and impactful.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If you get 5 lessons there is a 10% discount, and 10 lessons there is a 15% discount. I do generally remote lessons especially for singing and songwriting. But I can definitely travel to you for a slight added fee if you are based in Brooklyn or NYC. And I am open to conversation!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson I always like to get to know my student, and gauge what they’ve learned so far so I can meet them where their skill level is now. As well as let them ask any questions to get to know me! Learning music with a new person can be daunting but I’m here as a resource, and to give my students more tools to make what they are already doing more fun! And break things down into bite size pieces if they’re just getting started.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Music from SUNY Purchase in Studio Composition. I worked at School of Rock Westchester teaching vocals and guitar lessons. I’ve also taught composition lessons and private students on my own of all ages.
