Hello! I have been playing the piano for 22 years. I started teaching myself as a way to entertain my grandfather, and quickly fell in love with the instrument. I am passionate about sharing music with others and seeing my students grow and develop as musicians. I give my piano students a well-rounded approach to the instrument, whether you want your child to play classical music, have fun with popular songs, or prepare to play at church. If you are an adult who has always wanted to play, I would love to teach you as well! I have 11 years of experience in teaching private piano lessons. Credentials: B.S in Piano Performance- SUNY New Paltz Advanced Certificate in PreK-12 Music Education- Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College M.S in Music Education- Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College Middle School Chorus/Piano Teacher, NYC DOE Episcopal Church Music Director I have experience teaching students from ages 3-60, and am currently teaching remotely via Google Meets, or in my home in Brooklyn, NY.

My 7 year old son signed up for piano lessons over the summer with Emily, and we have loved her! I had tried teaching my son piano on my own over the past year, and we hadn't gotten very far and lost steam and motivation. The plan was to try virtual piano lessons and see how it went, and it's gone really well! My son has fun during his lessons, plays games with Emily, and has learned so so much in just a couple months! It took us a year to work through about 6 songs in a little beginner book, and over the summer my son has grown in confidence and we have almost finished the book! Emily is a great communicator and knows what different aspects of playing to focus on in lessons so he steadily improves and doesn't get frustrated.

Half Hour- $40 45 Minutes- $60 Hour- $80 I am currently only teaching remotely.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free trial lesson so that I can get an idea of the student's level, and we can determine if we are a good fit for each other.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.S in Piano Performance from SUNY New Paltz, where I studied under the fabulous Ruthanne Schempf. I also hold a M.S in Music Education from Queens College.
