Booklyn based vocalist and songwriter, Brenda Rudzinski, is a mixologist of sound. Her songs combine the storytelling tradition of American folk music with infectious pop rhythms and soulful jazz harmonies.
Her sultry voice soothes the spirit while cutting through to the heart of the matter. Brenda's most recent song, "Intellectual Lover" (Sony Japan), shared a spot on Billboard's number one album, "Spooky Hotel" by Senri Oe. She is currently writing music for a debut album set for late summer of 2015 as well as tunes for film and television.
Brenda Ann Rudzinski was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, to a working-class family and grew up in Thompson, Connecticut, a rural community in the northeast corner of the state. As a young child, she spent countless hours imitating the songs of pop singers and found that music took her beyond the confines of her small town to a world of limitless possibility.
In grade school, she pursued every musical and creative outlet she could find, including choir, writing short stories and producing and directing plays. A weak high school music program shook her hopes for making music a realistic career goal and after graduation, she enrolled at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts (a town north of Boston), where she earned a degree in fashion merchandising.
It was in Boston that Brenda found music again, where she immersed herself heavily in the local music scene. Soon, she found encouragement from the musicians around her to pursue a career as a singer.
In 2003, Brenda quit her desk job and moved from Boston to Paris, France, to escape the familiarity of her old life and reinvent herself as a professional musician. She studied classical voice in the city's under-esteemed soprano, Karen Nimerela, and enrolled in theory classes at Le CIM and The American School for Modern Music.
She also formed a jazz trio and performed at such notable clubs as Cafe Universal and Sunset Sunside. By 2005, Brenda moved back to the States to further her music education. In 2006, she enrolled in the Berklee College of Music on scholarship. She graduated in 2011 with a double major in vocal performance and songwriting. Shortly after graduation, she moved to New York City, a city she had been dreaming about living in since she was a little girl.
Brenda currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. She is a vocal instructor and a songwriter and performs with her band in and around the New York City area.
