FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge around 50-70 an hour depending on where the student is located (I factor in my travel and time). This is negotiable.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by getting to the heart of what is inspiring the student to take lessons in the first place. I ask about what music they love, what artists, songs, styles, etc., have led them to want to do it themselves. I then evaluate their ability and skill level and design a lesson plan (specialized for each student). Usually what happens is that we talk through/ listen through a few songs/ artists until we find a something that we both connect with and is the right level of difficulty.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching music for almost as long as I have been playing it, and am comfortable teaching beginners and advanced students alike. I also have a B.F.A. from The New School University (Mannes School of Jazz and Contemporary Music division). I also have been a successful songwriter and performer for the past ten years, performing at the national level at such venues as Bonnaroo Music Festival, Telluride, and Gathering of the Vibes to name a few.
