FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer flat rates for students who travel to my home studio for lesson ($40 - 30 minutes, $50 - 45 minutes, $60 - 60 minutes). This is preferred since it's cheaper for you and I have plenty of resources here to help enhance the lesson/musical experience. I do travel to students as well and pricing increases depending on travel time. Usually no more than an additional $20. If after some time with a student finances change, feel free to let me know. If I believe a student is showing real promise, I will happily work to make it more affordable for you.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First step is figuring out what the student's goals are. Are they interested in playing professionally some day? Would they like to be able to jam out with their friends? Are they looking to write their own music but need guidance? Great! Whatever excites them is what's most important. After figuring this out I feel it's important to learn what or establish some musical influence. What music do they enjoy listening to? This helps me get an idea for what style they'll be most motivated to learn and what techniques and exercises will help them approach it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been studying guitar for over 15 years. I've received multiple awards in composition and performance including being a finalist in the Wilson Center International Guitar Competition in 2019. I studied at a top 3 music school in the country (The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University) under Dave Stryker. Dave is a world renowned jazz and blues guitarist living in New York City.
