Teaching Philosophy:
I like to focus on what I’ve been calling “functional drumming” - meaning that I focus on skills that will help up and coming drummers be functional in real world situations. Everything I teach, and how I look at music is based on what I’ve picked up from being on the NYC scene since 2008.
Of course lessons and goals are tailored to individual needs and learning styles, but I work hard so students can have command of the drum set, as well as a strong grasp of how the music as a whole works. Understanding how the drums relate to and work with all of the other instruments/voices in a band/ensemble setting is extremely valuable to me in any genre.
Most importantly I think lessons should be fun. I believe the deeper we dig, the more fun drumming will be. I have a great time sharing my joy of drumming with my audiences on a gig, and my students can also share this feeling.
I have a lot to offer - Please get in touch with any questions!
