Called Ben in the week between Xmas and New Years to deal with a faulty Rheem water heater only one year old. Tho he had not done the installation, he spent two visits trying to sort out the problem, then got Rheem to send a new valve assembly under warranty and installed it promptly when it arrived. 1 star for Rheem whose equipment failed after only a year, but 5 stars for Brownstone who helped our tenant get his hot water back finally.

Details: Repair • No hot water • Part malfunctioning • Gas tank • Rheem • Closet • Condo/Apartment

Ben took his time to deal with some rather frustrating wiring and managed to get a Honeywell T10 setup without running a new C-wire to the boiler. Absolutely would recommend to come setup your new smart thermostat.

Details: Replacement • Townhouse

Ben Guttman was a pleasure to work with. On time, polite and informed, did what he promised - well and cleaned up. Solved my problem by installing an in- door filter system so that I can easily change the filters of my AC/heating unit. W I would highly recommend him.

Hired Ben to troubleshoot and repair my Coleman Echelon 9.C Series gas furnace after reading the positive reviews on Thumbtack. My furnace was blowing, but not providing heat. The diagnostic light was blinking red 10 times when I looked at it, prior to hiring Ben. Ben arrived on time at 10:30am and, interestingly, the furnace started working suddenly! Still, I expected Ben to find the cause of the problem and he identified the ignitor as being the culprit. The original part showed signs of wear and tear, so he replaced it. The furnace now works fine. He explained there is a 30-day warranty on his work, but I hope I don't have to call upon him again... it's getting cold outside! Overall, I'm satisfied with Ben's punctuality, professionalism, and courtesy. He's a man of few words, but friendly and he answered my many questions with patience. He charges $150 for service charge plus $185 for the needed parts. A bit more than I expected, but satisfied to have heat again so quickly! Thanks, Ben
