Introduction

Hi! I'm a working musician living in Brooklyn, I grew up in Japan and I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied bass performance. I'm currently endorsed by Michael Tobias Design (MTD USA), La Bella Strings, and was given the honor of hosting a bass seminar with Paul Jackson (The Headhunters) in Japan. I have worked with many notable artists including Rotimi, Skales, Bisa Kdei, Okeame Kwame, Ycee, Efya, Praiz, 9ice, DJ Tunez to name a few. Also, I have made to the final of the audition for Desiigner. I have been tutoring Bass for several years and have experience working in music education roles with organizations like CampJam. The main issues I discuss and focus on with all my students are bass oriented theory, ear training, technique, reading music, improvisation, and expanding your song repertoire. I encourage all my students to bring in any classic bass lines of any different styles to laern and help them to develop a love for music! I always enjoy seeing progress of students becoming great musicians!

Junichi is an amazing player and an even better instructor. I enjoy his approach to improving my playing by helping me find my own “voice”. He’s showing me the fundamentals and selecting songs for me to learn that can help me to apply them. I can feel my confidence and technique improving from lesson to lesson. Junichi is a wonderful guide to exploring this instrument and I’m sure he will help you improve no matter where you are on your bass journey.

Today was my first bass lesson with Junichi. After carefully reviewing all my options all I have to say is I'm extremely satisfied. From the moment I arrived he made me feel right at home and started playing a song by Harabe de palo: La Flaca which I've always wanted to learn. I was impressed with Junichi's ability to keep me relaxed throughout the entire lesson. He pointed out several software programs he uses with students to facilitate the learning process and maximized use of time. Can't wait till my next lesson! We need more instructors like Junichi!

Excellent teacher -- I came with zero experience in playing instruments, and he is patient and very good at explaining, mixing fun songs to learn with music theory. Been learning from Junichi for a month and a half and I really enjoy bass.

I can't give Junichi enough praise! I would add value and punctuality if they let me. Junichi is the teacher you are looking for! He is patient but he pushes me to be the best bass player I can be. In the last few months I've seen marked improvement in all areas of musicianship in reading ability, ear training and physical dexterity on the bass. Junichi is always prepared for class and communicates well during the class. Definitely check him out! You'll love it!
