Introduction
In a word, experience. I started with computers when you still had to build and program them yourself. 40 years and thousands of repairs and system builds latter there is little I have not seen or worked on. Unlike many, most of my experience is directly connected to the repair and maintance of computers. I have advanced skills handling all types of software, have built hardware from scratch and have designed networks from the ground up. Everyday is just a bit different from the last. You never know what you'll find when you go onsite to help somebody and you get to meet new people each and every day. And it's always nice to walk into a home or office that is stressed out because their computers don't work and be able to save the day for them. And I love the phone calls that start out something like... "My friend has been using you for years and says your "THE GUY" to fix my computer"

I called James from Renogeek at 7pm last night and he was here before I had to get ready for work this morning. He found what he called a simple problem and had my computer back online fast. He charged me half what he said he would on the phone last night and was in and out of my place in less then twenty minutes.

Very fast service. Never meet somebody that knew so much about computers able to explain them in such simple terms. He came in under his qouted price.

I have been working with computers since the early 1980's with CPM based machines and machine language programming. At one point a partner and I built computer clones before Gateway. As a full time micro computer user, Novell Network Engineer and living full time from my internet businesses for the past 16 years, there is not much I don't know about computers. I use Reno Geek and James for those sticky problems. He is the best and is always current on the latest operating systems

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Computers and software change almost daily. And a good tech will spend hours each week just keeping up on what's new. In addition most good techs will re-new or get new certifications every few years. On top of all this I am a beta tester for many products so that I'll know how to use them years before most customers ever have the chance to hear about them.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common types of work I get hired for are data recovery and virus removal. Next in line would be system upgrades and new system setups.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your homework first. Most are just looking for "anybody" to get their system fixed as fast as they can. But many will take advantage of that fact. Call your family and friends and ask who they use. After you get a few names check them out (BBB, Reviews, Local Business Licences) to make sure they will do a good job for you.
