FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My tuning price is the same no matter how far out of tune your piano is. It also includes fixing any minor problems your piano might have, like sticky keys or squeaky pedals. The idea being that your quote is your quote, no additional fees unless your piano has a more major problem. If it does, I will go over it with you and discuss everything thoroughly before doing anything.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I try to keep things simple and be understanding of my customer's varying lifestyles. I'm happy to communicate in whatever way is easiest for you, be it phone, email, or even text, and I do my best to get a sense of what you want ahead of time. I'm also happy to work my schedule around what works for you, to the best of my abilities, which is why I offer evening and weekend appointments. Once I've seen a piano for the first time, I generally do a quick evaluation and let you know it's age and condition, and if I see anything that could be fixed or adjusted, and I leave it up to you to determine if you'd like any extra work done.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a graduate of the North Bennet Street School's Advanced piano technology program and am a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technician's Guild. I apprenticed for three years with several different technicians. I worked for a while at the Mason and Hamlin Piano Factory and spent a year as the head technician for a Yamaha dealership.
