Introduction
MQR LANGUAGES provides Portuguese lessons as well as ESL (English as a second language) classes. When teaching English and Portuguese we use the communicative approach by using the following steps:
1) Presentation
2) Explanation
3) Practice
4) Production
All phases are done in the target language. Phase four includes reading and writing. The classes are student-centered and the goal is to keep the teacher-student talk time respectively at a 30% and 70% ratio.
COURSE COMPLETION ESTIMATE:
Portuguese : 28 - 35 hours (Basic 1, Basic 2, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2)
Portuguese (Advanced) : 20 - 30 hours
ESL (English as a Second Language): 20 - 35 hours (Low beginner, Beginner, High beginner, Low Intermediate, High intermediate)
** The length of these courses may be extended or shortened depending on the student's performance and commitment.

She is my current Portuguese teacher and all the feedback from previous reviews such as materials and depth of knowledge is all verified. A few things I would add would be she is extremely personable, we just immediately warmed up to each other even though it's all distance learning. Our class is filled with instruction but always fun. Highly recommended and staying with Marcia for the long run.

Marcia is a very dedicated teacher. She correct, and help you in a way that make you feel that you can do it. Also, she has patience and can explain to you over and over without getting tired. She is always smiling. Also she helped me in build my trust in the capacity that I have to learn and speak Portuguese.
The cost of the class is one of the best that I found in the market. You are getting materials and lots of advices. I went to different areas and look all over because I was looking for the best deal.

Prof. Marcia offers the ultimate in portuguese. She was my instructor for two years at Pasadena Language Institute and constructed for me a class tailored to my needs and more importantly the manner in which I preferred to learn a language. European portuguese was my ultimate goal and she successfully instructed me in both versions of the language. Learning with Marcia was a truly enjoyable experience! She makes it a point to teach her students about cultural aspects of the language, which cannot be learned from a textbook - making the learning experience all that more meaningful. Great instructor!!!
