I'm an adult who hasn't had formal lessons in almost 15 years. I was looking for a teacher who could help with correcting some bad habits, as well as getting me back on track to enjoying the violin. Lyssandra's instruction has been fantastic. I have done both online and in-person lessons with her. I saw results right after the first few lessons. I wish I had her as a teacher when I was younger- I would have saved myself so much time! She's good at quickly identifying issues in my technique, and usually provides multiple solutions while being sensitive to what helps me most. She's also knowledgeable and encouraging. I liked that she dropped obscure music theory facts every now and then. I would recommend Lyssandra to students who are looking for quality instruction to take their playing to the next level.

Lyssandra is a talented educator and performer. We taught together at a NYC music program where she was the instructor of several young violinist. They were musically, academically and emotionally nourished by Mrs. Stephenson. Her credentials, including her education, position as the head of a private school music program and almost two decades of experience only begin to speak of her capability as a musician and teacher. In addition to being a wonderful teacher, she has a great sense of humor and is lovely to work with. I recommend!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Fees for private lessons are as follows: $50.00 for 30 minutes, $65.00 for 45 minutes and $80.00 for 60 minutes.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, depending on the student's level of playing, I like to have our first lesson as a half hour so I can hear the student play and discuss goals. If the student is a beginner, then we can use our first lesson to get going and set up for success!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music in Voice and Violin. I have a Master's Degree in Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I have a Professional Teaching Certification from New York State. I've attended several American String Teacher Association National Conferences and can't wait to go to my next one!
