Wedding photography for people who DON'T want wedding photography! Documentary wedding photography creates a beautiful set of pictures that are totally unique. Just like you and your wedding. Rather than set poses, the purpose and goal is to write the story of your most precious day. To remember the narrative that was your wedding day decades from now. What exactly do you feel when you look at an album of posed groups, awkward poses and over-romanticized images. How often do you feel the “candid moments” were the best in the book? My goal is to bring back to you images that you will feel. Images that might make you cry, or laugh out loud replay the day in your mind over and over after ALL the effort and love you put into it. Here are some features of my approach: 1) You’ll likely not notice I’m there. Many might even think I’m a guest with a camera. 2) I won’t take over your day with setting up group shots or pulling you away for long photo-sessions. 3) Everything I do is candid. Planning a wedding is often overwhelming, but as soon as I chose a mark to photograph our wedding I felt a little more at ease. He has such a beautiful talent for capturing the moments that would otherwise be forgotten during such a busy day. Mark was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. He responded in a timely manner to my initial enquiries and follow up questions, arrived on time on the wedding day and got on with all our wedding guests. Mark really did add to the enjoyment of our special day, but at the same time blended into the background to the point where we often forgot he was there. When the pictures arrived a few weeks after the event we were so pleased with how good they were. Mark had captured all of the poignant moments from unique angles and many that we had either forgotten or missed on the day. The only issue we have now is which of the many beautiful moments, that mark captured in black and white and in color, to frame and put into albums. We couldn’t be happier with end product and are so very lucky that we will have these pictures to share with our loved ones and to look back on for years to come. I would highly recommend mark and his work to anyone looking for a photographer!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a two hour minimum and I charge a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical process involves making sure that the potential customer understands my style (documentary). Most other photographers are traditional. I am not. I'll direct them to my website, Then we'll talk about where and when you want me and I'll leave the conversation open so you can ask me anything. Finally, I'll have to draft the appropriate paperwork and collect a deposit. That's it!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've started shooting professionally in 1979. Most of my education was for working as a freelance photographer's assistant. I was a freelance professional in NYC. I worked mostly for magazines (Business Week, Forbes, Eastern Airlines). Also, did documentary photography which took me to Nicaragua, Panama, Gaza and the West Bank. In the last 4 years, I've moved into documentary wedding photography. My mentor/teacher has been Kevin Mullins from England. You can Google him to get a really good idea of the style I aspire to. Kevin is really good at putting in words the whole idea about documentary wedding photography.
