From start to finish my project proceed seamlessly. I have been contemplating refinishing the floors (two rooms and the hallway) for some time and considered a couple of options; one being using over the counter products to ‘spruce’ up their appearance. Then I saw an advertisement for Thumbtack. After looking at the reviews I requested a quote from Magen David. I almost immediately received a reply followed by a visit and a written quote, this was like on Tuesday. By Saturday evening my floors were done and I might add, beautiful. So impressed with Magen and David, their office staff and technicians I would say hands down these would be the “go to people” if ever you want your hardwood floors to bring new life to your home. I want to give a shout out to Gabe whom coordinated and managed things as well as his two technicians whom I fail to recall their names. Mainly due we had little interaction due to they were always working hard and concentrating on the job at hand. Note: Of the two other flooring contractors I contacted, one offered little in the way of customer service (preparation, cleanup) and the other would schedule me in two or three weeks. Gabe, in his quote, outlined every detail of the project so there would be no surprises, and there weren’t.

I rarely write reviews (especially long ones such as this) but in this case I made an exception because it is hard to find qualified good contractors such as Magen David. I hired Magen David to fix a previous poor installation of my kitchen’s hardwood floor that was in stark mismatch to the floor in the rest of the apt. Gabe (the owner) was professional from our first call and throughout the process. He listened carefully to understand what was bothering me with the current installation, came up with creative solutions to fix the issue that he described to me in detail including sharing a couple of sketches with me so I understand the plan. The team who came to do the work had unique expertise in color mixing and invested time experimenting with different types and % of colors mixes to try to match the color of the kitchen tiles to the ones I have in the rest of the apartment (which are no longer available) until they found a color I was happy with and shared helpful advice in the process (see attached pic of color samples). They invested another full day to do additional layers of sanding and polish to get the tiles to look as close as possible to the rest of the apt (see before and after pics below). Beyond the high quality of work, I really appreciated the responsiveness, honesty and kindness of Gabe and his team throughout the process. Gabe called me a couple of times each day on his own initiative to check on how things are and discuss key decisions before they were made. He and his team were always very honest about what outcome can realistically be achieved and didn’t try to over-sell or over-promise. His guys were here for two whole days and were very polite, they protected the furniture before they commenced the work and always cleaned after they left. They delivered on everything they promised.

Gabe was so easy to work with, I was concerned that one area wasn’t sealed enough so his guys came back and added another coat over that room. I’m attaching before and after pics of 125 year old soft pine and their work revitalized these old floors. I highly recommend MDF. thanks guys.
