I managed active case files : client interviews, document review, legal research, ADR, post-trial follow-up and correspondence for in state and out of state representation. Notably, I handled casework on a personal tort action where a child was injured by her day care provider; negotiated a pre-trial settlement on a claim of real estate fraud, and researched long standing child support matters where the children were beyond majority. Law Clerk, (One year) Similar day to day case management: client interviews, consultations, letter drafting, pre and post-trial motion submissions and legal correspondence. Notable casework involved divorce property settlement of real estate, personal assets, retirement funds, alimony and child support worksheets. Practice areas were Employment Law, Family Law, Elder Law and Wills and Trusts. Special Education Clinic, Rutgers School of Law Newark, N.J. Student Attorney (One Semester). I conducted client interviews and researched matters regarding Special Education law. Drafted attorneys' fees affidavits. I, under direct supervision of my clinical professor, represented a child client at an Individualized Education Program (IEP) at a residential facility for re-evaluation of his educational and behavioral needs. Domestic Violence Advocacy Program,, Rutgers School of Law Newark, N.J. Student Volunteer (One Semester). I assisted Domestic Violence victims in the Newark area with filing Temporary Restraining Orders against their attackers. I also provided information to my client base on victims' rights and remedies, workings of the legal system, and evidentiary collection for hearings. Lastly, I assisted victims with safety planning and referrals to community-based resources. Women’s Rights Litigation Clinic, Rutgers School of Law Newark, N.J. Student Attorney, (One Semester) I drafted a memorandum of law on threats of third-party action no fault evictions to domestic violence victims arising from their batterers conduct. Our clinical work was in conjunction with the ACLU Women’s Rights Project and locally based outreach organizations. Child Advocacy Center, Rutgers School of Law Newark, N.J. Student Attorney, Newark, NJ. I drafted inter-office memoranda and client correspondence. I also was responsible for updating case files. Under clinical supervision, I represented disabled minors in denial of Social Security Disability Benefits, both before Administrative Law Judge and in letter appeal.
