Ilyssa V. says, "I am sitting here eating left overs from last night still in amazement at how amazing it was having SkyBlu Hospitatity host us in my home last night. There are five items above to choose from and you are only allowed to choose three or else I would have chosen all five. My daughter and son-in-law gifted us this dinner and she told me Vinny was so easy to work with. He had great ideas and was very attentive to all of our dietary restrictions creating a menu specific to us. Vinny and his assistant showed up right on time. They brought all their own cooking utensils and the plates and silverware we would be using. Dinner started with the first course which was three meditterean style dips and two lamb appetizers. Each was better than the next. The offerings were in abundance and there was no way our group would be able to eat it all. The second course consisted of three different main dishes, vegetarian, a chicken and a duck, each with accompaniments. Each was served separately with time allowed to leisurely eat each dish. Thank goodness no matter how stuffed you are there is always somehow room for dessert. We were served a lemon custard tart with ice cream. Our friends were blown away. They could not stop thanking us for an amazing experience. We look forward to working with them again and sharing their culinary artistry with more of our friends. I am confident that anyone that chooses BluSky Hospitality to host an event for them will be truly satisfied they made that choice."See more

Alberto C. says, "Gabriele went above and beyond — not only averting a potential disaster but also turning what could have been a catastrophe into an unforgettable evening. For my anniversary, I surprised my partner by hiring a professional chef to prepare a 4-course dinner at home. Being Italian, I'm particular about my dining preferences, especially for such a special occasion. Before the event, Gabriele was exceptionally proactive, offering several menu options for the four courses, each centered around a fall theme with fish as the primary protein. He crafted multiple menu iterations, each unique, combining flavors like fruit emulsions, spice essences, and freshly prepared culinary elements that highlighted the quality of the raw ingredients. But then, a true test of resilience arose. Just hours before his expected arrival, I was notified of a sudden gas outage in our NYC building. Amid the stress of this last-minute setback on my anniversary, I worried how Gabriele would manage to cook his carefully curated meal, with no kitchen stoves! Yet, Gabriele remained calm and composed, assuring me that he had everything under control. He brought his own electric-powered cooking station and seamlessly executed the entire dinner, saving our evening. He not only dissipated any lingering and overwhelming stress I had attempting to rectify this situation, but also created an unforgettable experience. The experience was more than just a solution; it was a revelation. Gabriele's cooking left us in awe, transforming our favorite dishes— like a simple "Spaghetto al Gambero Rosso"— into creations that transported my partner and I back to Italy. Grazie, grazie infinite once again. A."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
