I first met Evelyn in the Fall of 2019, when I joined the Central Jersey Symphony Orchestra, of which she is Concertmaster. Immediately, I noticed that she is a very passionate and dedicated violinist; she constantly provided tips and demonstrations to our first violin section during rehearsals, which showed me that she is committed to excellence and to quality music making. I realized that this was the kind of instruction I wanted in my private lessons as well. I wasn’t happy with my current teacher at the time. I approached Evelyn about starting lessons with her, and she accepted immediately. Within a couple of lessons with her, she picked up on so many technical flaws and areas for improvement in my playing, that my prior teacher never even mentioned to me during 7 months of lessons with them! Nothing gets past Evelyn. She is very sharp and spots even the most minute imperfections. She is nit picky (which I love) but at the same time is not overbearing nor condescending. She truly is a master violinist and a violin clinician. Aside from being a doctor, I have aspirations to obtain a degree in violin performance in the near future, and I know I am in good hands, and on track to meet that goal successfully, with Evelyn as my teacher. I would recommend her with absolutely no reservations nor hesitation! --Dr. Clinton Rebello, M.D.

It has been great studying with Evelyn. She is an excellent teacher, very patient and nudges her students forward so they can truly become better violinists. Well worth the money and I would recommend her to any lover of the violin.

As a student of hers for over a year, not only is she a great teacher, she is also a great mentor and friend, whose passion for the arts swells one's own. I'm not sure if I could ask for anything else.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My fee for an hour's lesson is $100.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I typically set up an initial lesson to assess the student's ability level. Then I craft a program to suit that student's specific needs. Many of my students have gone on to win competitions and scholarships.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I studied in Venezuela with Jose Francisco Del Castillo, founder of the Latin American Violin Academy, then in the United States with Margaret Pardee, faculty at the Juilliard School, and have trained with Jorge Corpus in NY City, and Stefan Kamilarov, Pavel Vernikov, and Alexander Steinberger in Vienna.
