Introduction

I offer alterations on all bridal and special occasion dresses as well as women's and men's clothing. I custom make and remake dresses and/or costume pieces. I also specialize in reconstructing vintage or heirloom dresses. I love knowing that my clients look and feel good in their clothing.

Melissa is AWESOME! She was able to take a trumpet-style wedding dress that was 10-sizes too big and REMAKE it into a ballgown that fit like a glove and looked like it had always been a ballgown. She also worked quickly and we were able to have the 2nd fitting 2 weeks earlier than scheduled. Her services are excellent with an affordable price. I would definitely use her again and absolutely recommend her alteration and dress remaking services!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard hourly charge is $30-40 hour, but because all types of alterations vary tremendously, it depends upon the amount of work involved and the type of garment/fabric. A custom designed dress can cost anywhere between $600-$3000.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with a client for a complimentary consultation, and will take a deposit upon booking the work on your garment. Upon taking measurements and choosing custom designs or alterations, you should expect anywhere from 1-3 fittings before the completion of the garment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Master's of Fine Arts in Theatrical Costume Design and worked as professional stage designer for 15 years in regional theaters and NYC. I am a highly skilled fabric technician and dressmaker.
