Hallo/Salut/Hi, my name is Caroline Phillips. I am one of the two co-owners of LingualMuse and the Head teacher on the LingualMuse Language Team. I am trilingual in German, French, and English. I worked on two different continents and have lived in Germany, Britain, Belgium, and the US! I have worked in languages throughout my career, and I am always developing and improving my teaching methods, as I believe that learning is a lifelong event ! We work with students of all ages and language levels from Beginner to Advanced! A little about me: I was fortunate to work for the Foreign Service Institute as part of the State Department in DC. While I was there, I learned how to prepare a team of US delegates for their language assignments for their time serving the US government abroad. I was trained to teach German as well as French in a 9 month period, going from beginner to fluency, and successfully passing their government language testing. I really enjoy teaching dedicated and conscientious students that like learning fascinating and useful languages as much as me. I believe that well-kept language skills will enhance both your personal life and career. They expand your horizons and enable you to successfully connect with others around the globe. Watching our students succeed under my guidance and bringing out their best is my target 🎯, and my reward 🏆. About LingualMuse: We have been in business for four years. We mainly offer private classes but also have partner, semi-private and immersion events too. I reached out to Lingual Muse to start learning European Portuguese. That was one thing I could not compromise on. Joe paired me with Ricardo, who is not only Brazilian, but lives in Lisbon. So far with Ricardo, I am able to learn both sides of Portuguese. Ricardo is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and knows how to pace for my learning experience. Joe, the owner of Lingual Muse, has been nothing short of amazing to work with. Extremely professional and extremely responsive when it came to setting me up with Ricardo as my Portuguese tutor. I would recommend Lingual Muse to anyone looking to learn another language.

I really enjoy my classes Angelica makes you feel very comfortable. I is really good at helping me with understanding the lesson and the correct pronunciation of the Spanish language. I highly recommend.

I had my first session for my son and it went pretty well overall. Both the coordinator Joe and my son’s teacher Caroline was professional and extremely nice. Unfortunately, my son changes his mind often and that is the only reason I’m not continuing with his lessons at this time. However, if anything changes I will definitely use this company!!

After speaking with several Language companies to find a tutor for my wife and I in our quest to learn Spanish, we chose Lingual Muse. The program itself sounded like it would lend itself to the type of lessons we were looking for to learn together as a pair. After speaking with Joe G. the owner of the company I felt he really asked the right kind of questions in order to align us with a teacher to compliment our learning levels and needs. We started our lessons in February with Angelica M. (nuestra profesora) twice a week in the evenings for an hour and a half. Angelica is amazing! Not only is she such a nice relatable person, her teaching style is very conducive to learning a second language for two people who have been out of school for a while. Although my wife and I both have graduate degrees I feel learning a second language has been challenging as we both learn at different rates, but I feel Angelica’s teaching style has lent itself to us keeping at the same pace and complimenting each others skill level. We can’t say enough about Angelica as she is very good at explaining the fundamentals and the rules while making it fun and stress free. Angelica is very good at anticipating what lessons and next steps we are ready for, especially with two working people learning part time in the evenings. We are painting “thin layers” she says and I believe it is working. We are retaining more Spanish through her tutoring than any previous attempts with other teachers. I contacted many different language companies and am so happy I chose LingualMuse!!! First off, Joe got in touch with me extremely quick, scheduled a time to chat that worked around my schedule, and was extremely friendly. He asked many questions and chose a tutor he thought I would best match with. He explained to me that all of his tutors are top notch, but I really cannot imagine anyone better suited for me than my chosen Spanish tutor Angelica. Angelica is an amazing tutor that inspires me to practice spanish as much as possible. She is extremely professional, however I feel she cares about my progress on a personal level as well. Angelica has scuplted our lessons around what she believe would be best suited for my learning style and I have full trust in her process. At first, I was a bit concerned about the money and commitment, but after being with LingualMuse for 6 months, I have absolutely NO REGRETS and will be staying with this company until there is nothing left to learn. If any of the other instructors are half as helpful as Angelica, then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LingualMuse!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am going to assess my students language capability, start planning my students study schedule as well as getting a clear understanding of what the students own expectations for our language lessons are.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching consistently for over 10 years in Europe as well as in the USA and feel well equipped to helping students to improve their own language skills.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started tutoring as a student in college and felt hat it came easy to me to teach someone or even a whole group of students how to learn a language. I have been doing this for over 13 years now. I feel happy to see students succeed and feel blessed to have found my dream profession !
