Introduction

I believe that every written piece should not just inform, it should be a visual work of art. There are a million writers out there with good skills, but only a handful who can combine creativity with technical writing chops. I count myself among the latter, and this is what I strive to provide on every project. I'm also quite versatile. I've been writing professionally in one capacity or another for many years, and in that time I've written everything from newspaper copy to speeches to legal memoranda to web content and fiction. Lately, I have branched out into APA-formatted papers, especially dissertations. I am versed not only in APA style but Chicago and AP as well. My understanding of different forms gives me a decided edge. For me there's nothing more gratifying than producing a written piece that shines, whether I'm working on my own project or helping with someone else's. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Depending on the project, I will charge per word, per page, or a flat fee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For the kind of work I do it's difficult to just quote a job and bang out copy. I like to understand exactly what the project is, so I will typically ask to talk by phone or in person. I spend a lot of time (for no charge) learning about the client and the project before I give a quote and get started. I want to establish a good working relationship right away, and hopefully a long-term one.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Journalism, law, post-grad writing courses, internship in advertising, advertising agency experience, newspaper writing, public relations (political campaigns), several mentoring programs.
