Introduction
Train Play Live is nestled on 30 acres in the woods in Rockwell NC. We are close to Concord and Charlotte and also Salisbury and Greensboro. We are very honored to have had families quite often travel from over 3 hours away to get our help. Train Play Live is owned and operated by Glenn Sherrill and his wife Heather for the past 14 years. One thing that families love about us is that we are not only dog–people… we love people too! We are kind and patient and enjoy teaching humans as much as dogs. You’ll also love our kennel tech and extra trainer – LiliGrace and Kayla. Interestingly, Kayla has a Zoology degree from NC State and has worked with Big Cats at Tiger World… AND she’s a vet tech! Our programs are fun, fast, and include lots of long-term support for your peace of mind so you never have to worry about training unraveling over time. We’re always here for you so you know this will be the last training program you ever need. You can choose between different types of programs depending on your preferences including private 1-on-1 training together (great for families who want to be involved every step of the way!), as well as programs where your dog comes to stay with us on our beautiful 30 acres, to start training and save you time in the beginning. Recently, we have added new programs that are the best of both of these types of training, so we still do a lot of heavy lifting for you, but you are not without your dog for long periods of time. Clients are loving these programs! If you choose a program where your dog stays with us some during the process, you’ll love knowing that your dog will be treated like family - staying in a home (with a very limited number of other dogs visiting at the same time - so they get lots of attention!). We include long walks on our own a half-mile scenic creek trail, socialization, and customized training for your dog based on your personal preferences and goals. We set up the same scenarios you have at home and give you help based on your dog's individual situation. In any program you choose, we’ll help you with the really common things like leash pulling, jumping, excessive barking, coming when called, settling down in the house and around company, listening around distractions, potty training and more. We also spend a lot of time with all family members teaching about dog behavior, how dogs learn, and what they need from their human family members to be successful. (We can also help you with your puppy, or if your dog is aggressive, fearful or overreacts to a lot of situations. We’re also quite experienced with wolf hybrids and ancient primitive breeds.) No more feeling embarrassed about how your dog acts or their “selective hearing”! Instead, you’ll be proud of your dog, knowing they’ll listen to you reliably in any situation. Contact us through Thumbtack Messenger or text us on our business number. We can't wait to hear about your dog! Glenn and the team at Train Play Live

Glenn is honest and up front about his training, the entire process and expectations from the first email and conversation. I, myself, have trained pups my whole life, showing them in obedience trials. My young adult daughter adopted a year old, returned twice to the shelter, food aggressive, work boot hating dog who she said she could help (she loves to work with dogs) and we, as a family could help him. OH NO! After Troy lunged at my husband and myself, we realized we were in over our heads to make a long story short. In comes Glenn and his assistant Erin. Patient, calm, understanding, listening, watching, and taking quiet control of Troy, we could tell from our "Get to know you" visit....he was the one we needed. Boot camp for Troy with weekly visits from us to incorporate Troy's new learning, we could see changes in Troy, 3 weeks! After all, as Glenn reminded us, this is a family affair and training is for all of us. Even old dogs like myself can learn new things....lots of new things! I had never experienced a dog so afraid and insecure that we couldn't help him. Glenn showed us new ways to approach training, and living with Troy and how to work with him. Glenn gave us physical and verbal tools to work with Troy after being at Boot Camp. We called and asked Glenn questions. He is our life coach for Troy! AND we are thrilled! Troy came home and we as a family are learning new ways and tools. We are all much happier! Troy walks on a leash! He walks OFF leash! A miracle! He comes when called, he is not growling and lunging at anyone, we are taking turns feeding him and he is respectful, we are throwing a ball and he is fun to be around. We are not anticipating how to tell my daughter, "you really need to take him back for safety sake"...he is our family. It has been 6 weeks and the progress is incredible and we could not be happier. The best investment possible was signing up with Glenn. My daughter would have never returned Troy but now we can all say we feel Troy is in his forever home and thanks to Glenn and Erin and our participation as a family in his training, he is part of our family where before he was a menus. Thank you Glenn and Erin for helping us help Troy and it has been such a joy getting to know both of you! Dottie, Johnny, Samantha and Troy

We found Glenn on thumbtack after talking with multiple dog trainers. Our 4 year old Aussie was attacking our other older dog, unprovoked, was jumping and barking excessively, and was out of control when passing other dogs on walks. He had nipped at people and had unpredictable tendencies. Glenn was well informed on our dog's situation and could give clear examples of what he would do in training as well as the psychology of our dog that he needed to re-train. He spent time meeting with us and our dog through an hour our longer consultation and showed us some of the things he would be working on during the consultation. His explanations of our dogs psychology made sense with what we saw at home and Glenn was a good listener when we would explain our dog's fear aggressive tendencies. We appreciated his acknowledgement of our experiences/issues and using those as areas of focus in the training instead of a "one size fits all" program. We loved that Glenn's focus is not only on making changes with the dog, but making changes with the PEOPLE so that the training will last when you get home. We put our dog through the boot-camp program and Glenn was committed to helping our dog and us know how to handle a variety of situations. The boot camp training included many resources to help us help our dog- a "place" mat, a short leash, a muzzle, an e-collar trainer, and a no-pain-no pull collar. Glenn was not the cheapest option we found, but after coming out of the training, he's an amazing value! You get so much more than what you pay for! Glenn is also committed for the LIFE of the dog. Glenn has lived up to his word in this area and has followed up with us anytime that we needed additional advice, resources, etc. after we brought our dog back home from boot-camp. We would have loved a few more updates during the training time to know how our dog was doing (sometimes it was hard to get in touch with Glenn) but in the end, the outcomes spoke for itself. We have recommended several friends to Glenn since our dogs training and will continue to recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer.

We had a great overall experience with Glenn as he trained our dog and us. :) Glenn was patient, well-informed and friendly. He answered all of our follow-up questions throroughly and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the training process. The one caveat I would suggest is to establish a communication plan upfront with him. Once we addressed that email was his preferred channel, things went more smoothly. We would recommend Glenn and his family to anyone looking for an educated dog trainer!
