FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer 30-minute lessons for $30, 45-minute lessons for $40, and 60-minute lessons for $50. Also ask about the sibling discount—schedule two siblings' lessons back to back and pay only $50 an hour regardless of the length of each lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I spend the first lesson getting to know the student and assessing his skill level and long-term goals. I also lay out expectations for lessons (such as practicing and payment schedule) and review the studio policies with the student or the student's parent. I want the student to get a feel for the instrument right away, so much of the first lesson is spent learning the fundamentals of playing.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Part of my degree requirements included taking a class in harp pedagogy and working with the students in the pre-college program. Since then, I have gotten hands-on experience working with students of different ages and levels, both in private lessons and in student recitals.
