Interior design is a profession that combines creativity, technical knowledge, and business skills. Interior designers work with their clients and other professionals to develop design solutions that are safe, functional, attractive, and meet the needs of the people using the space. Our interior designer, Lyn, understands how to plan a space and how to present that plan visually so that it can be communicated to you, our client. The joy comes from feeling and seeing the materials and products that would be best suited to create and furnish your space–texture, color, lighting and room balance. Structural restrictions, health and safety requirements, building codes and other technical aspects are always considered as part of the plan.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Staging a home before it goes on the market comes down to two very simple realities. Time on the market and the price on the contract. Studies have shown* that staging often reduces market time. And, better yet, the home typically sells for more than one that isn’t staged. According to the NAR (National Association of Realtors, 2021), reports indicate that staging a home before it goes on the market (vacant or occupied) dramatically impacts both the listing time and the final sale price. The data: 85% of staged homes sold for 5 to 23% over their listing price. A staged home spends 73% less time on the market than a non-staged home. 86% of potential buyers find it easier for themselves to visualize a property when it is staged.
