I regret using this company. Horrible work, unqualified workers (2) and took forever to complete the job. Had the audacity to blame the paint for the horrible paint job. Steven needed to hire outside painters to finish the job and it still looked horrible. Meanwhile I’ve used the same paint plenty of times. Even the contractors that came after to fix the mess STG left behind were baffled at the quality of work. They also happen to use the same paint I bought. Not to mention another painter I had to get realized that the paint Steve supposedly left from what I bought was actually old paint primer that he had and not the paint I bought. I purchased linoleum flooring for him to install and he couldn’t install because he messed the cut up and I needed to eventually hire someone else to do the floor. Same thing with the plumbing. He also charged me $400 for some repairs he needed to do underneath the floor and I have no idea if he really did it. Floor still felt the same. After I reached out to Thumbtack to make them aware of this horrible experience he chose to attack me personally. Do your self a favor and save yourself a headache do not use Steve and his company. The pictures I have added will speak for themselves. These are not before pictures as he his claiming. I will be more than happy to invite anyone to see them personally.

Details: Sketches or a basic idea • Kitchen • Living room • Bedroom • Bathroom • Dining or family room • Whole home or building • Crawl space or attic • Complete renovation • 1,500 - 2,000 sq ft • Home • I am the owner

STG Renovations & Remodel Services's reply
I am sorry that it has come to the point where you are attacking me, even after I went above and beyond completing the work you requested. My last time at the house, we did a walk-through of the property for about an hour. You said, “Thank you for all the work done there at the house and it looks good.” That is a direct quote. You shook my hand and paid me the balance due upon the completion of the contract. We walked to the front of the house, I showed you the water meter, and then you offered me more money for the extra trouble/work. I refused the extra money and said that I honor my word had completed the job for the price quoted in the contract. My contract was a fair price and I went above and beyond what you asked me to do with the additional work you added. I advised you in person and in the contract that any older property can have unexpected repairs. That occurred with your property which is 60 to 70 years old. Work began after 8/12/19, and within the first week you added six items to be corrected/repaired from the original contract. The 3rd week you added the drywalling of a bathroom and the 4th week you added the drywalling of another bathroom. Completion dates can only be estimated, especially when working on older houses, and additional repairs and projects always add time to any renovation timeline. I purchased the paint you selected to be used from Lowes. You chose the cheapest paint which was not thick enough to provide good coverage to wood and walls that had not been painted in many years. I advise all by customers that the middle to upper priced paint pays for itself in coverage. You stated that you wanted this work done as cheaply as possible and you selected the cheapest paint. When you were not happy with the paint job, I showed you the coverage difference between the two types of paint and you admitted the difference. To ensure your satisfaction, I used additional workers to repaint all the walls and molding using better quality paint. I ate all the labor cost for this additional work repainting the walls and trim in this 2800 square foot house. Your only cost was the purchase of good paint. I provided you all receipts for all products, materials and paint used at your location. The only primer used on your property was used to prime the paneling / raw wood that you wanted painted. Industry standard knows you use primer to paint any raw or stained wood prior to painting. You expected me to pay for plumbing repairs for the galvanized pipes that had to be replaced due to rust and corrosion when it was not originally part of the contract. This repair was completed by a plumber at a fair rate. I advised you more than once of structural work that needed to be completed due to old and rotten wood, but you elected not to complete those extensive repairs and not spend any additional money. I advised you that the bathroom floor was flexing, and laminate would provide better coverage. But you wanted the floor tiled because I had included the cost of tile in the contract price. I have installed laminate flooring in other bathrooms and kitchens, but your kitchen floor slopes extensively and made it difficult to cut and install the laminate flooring. Laminate flooring installation in the kitchen was not part of the original contract but I agreed to do the install to save you money. When I could not complete the floor, the cost of the floor was never charged to you. I paid for and ate the cost of the glue and laminate flooring material. So you incurred no cost or loss. I stand by the painting and work completed. I will not defend anything I have said as I went above and beyond the original contract to complete the work at your property. Your property was in terrible shape and the work I completed made it look great. You required me to pay you “lost rent”, which I did, when the job took longer to complete because of all the repainting and additional work your wanted done. In 21 years, I have never had this experience with a customer. I appreciate the before pictures you have added.

Steven did an excellent job replacing the floor my bathroom with new white tile. I have hired him many times to work on several projects in my rental properties and he always does a good job. He has redone bathrooms, painted, installed tile and fixed floor joist. I'm always happy with his work.

Details: Bathroom • Floor • 25 - 50 sq ft • Porcelain • No, but I will buy the tiles myself
