I contacted this business for a quote to remove the tile in my kitchen, pantry and downstairs hall bath in preparation for new floor installation. They arrived approx 15 minutes late, looked over the area and said they would email with a quote. They initially emailed with a quote for tile removal and installation. I clarified I was only interested in tile removal, and prepped by removing all the shoe round prior to their service. I accepted their price for these services, which I believe was on the high end. Set up for them to come on a Saturday at 8am. Friday evening, they message to say they’ll be there between 10-1040am-which is a significant difference. They leave one man to demo the tile which takes about 4-5 hours. All communication through Thumbtack or email. The owners speak Portuguese as their first language, so a language barrier is definitely something to be aware of for detailed projects. They also didn’t ask appropriate questions at their evaluation—having a gas range or learning that my built in benches are not movable probably would’ve been helpful before day of. Lack of preparation for cleanliness was lacking. I was not advised to cover any surfaces and they didn’t drape or cover anything during their work. I’ll take some blame for lack of preparedness, but every single item in my kitchen and bath including within the cabinets was covered in dust with tile chips in every crevice. There is a layer of dust over my entire first floor. They also did not cover the toilet drain and got tile lodged in the piping. The tile is not completely removed from the toilet either. I had several hours worth of cleaning to do that night and in the coming days to have a functional kitchen again. Overall, quality job, cleanliness leaves something to be desired, communication difficult.
