FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Any inspection or estimate from HORIZON is 100% FREE of charge! A roof inspection can lengthen the lifespan of a roof by detecting and repairing smaller issues before they become more expensive in the future. Our roof inspections offer a current diagnosis of your existing roof and components and include the most cost-effective recommendations for repairs or replacements.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
HORIZON works with you to handle the insurance claim process and make it as easy and simplistic as possible to deal with. We are with you from your initial free roof inspection to the completion of your new roof and everything in between. Insurance Claims Process 1. Call HORIZON for a Free Inspection If for any reason you think that your roof or home may have been damaged from previous storms, call HORIZON to come out and do a FREE inspection. Below are some things to look for that may be a sign you need to have your roof inspected: ● Shingles or pieces of shingles are found in the yard and/or around your home. ● Noticeable shingles seem to be missing from your roof. ● You see that your roof is heavily stained and has weird debris growing on it such as tree lichens or moss. ● You find lots of shingle granules (cinders) in your gutters or downspouts. ● Neighbors or other homes around the neighborhood are suddenly getting new roofs because of storm damage to their roofs. ● You are just simply curious as to what the condition of your roof may be and/or want to have a professional opinion on how much longer your shingles may last before needing a new roof. 2. Filing your Insurance Claim After HORIZON inspects your roof and determines that you do in fact have storm damage, we will help you call in an insurance claim to your home insurance company. An insurance adjuster will contact you to arrange a date and time to come out and meet with you and your HORIZON representative to assess the damages to your roof and/or home. 3. Insurance Adjustment HORIZON and your insurance adjuster will conduct a damage assessment with HORIZON’s damage report from the initial inspection. Your HORIZON insurance claims specialist will ensure that ALL damage(s) are addressed and included in your claim while meeting in person with your insurance adjuster. 4. Contract & Scheduling Once your insurance claim has been approved, your insurance company will send you an estimate and initial payment for your claim. This estimate is agreed upon by HORIZON and your insurance company as to what the total cost of repairs should be. If for some reason this estimate is missing particular items or not enough to do the actual work, HORIZON will contact your insurance adjuster to “supplement” those additional items. Once you have received this information, HORIZON will come out and meet with you to go over your estimate in detail. We will then fill out your contract, select your materials and shingle color and schedule a date for your new roof. Removal and installation of your new roofing system generally takes 1-2 days depending on the size of the job and weather. 5. Recoverable Depreciation Most home insurance claims involve “recoverable depreciation” as part of your replacement cost value (RCV) insurance policy. Recoverable depreciation is a percentage of the claim that is held back from the homeowner (policy holder) until the work involved in your claim has been completed. Once you have completed the work that your insurance company has estimated for you to have done and can provide proof of this completed work, you will receive your recoverable depreciation payment. We like to refer to this as “holdback money” that the insurance keeps from you initially to ensure that you actually get the specified work completed in your claim. Sharing your insurance company’s estimate with HORIZON allows us to help get all of your recoverable depreciation money from your insurance that you are owed. 6. Project Completion At the completion of your project, your HORIZON representative will perform a final inspection to make sure all of your expectations have been met and that you are completely satisfied with our work. HORIZON will then send off a completion letter, along with photos, to your insurance company so they will release your final payment (recoverable depreciation) to you and close out your claim.
