I have been a pianist since 1974, celebrating 50 years! and teaching since 2005, it is who I am. I live for music! I feel it's important for me to pass the gift that was instilled in me by my first music instructor, Sonny Harris. You will not only learn classical but also learn the blues, jazz, latin, rock, and pop and even start to learn how to compose music and learn how to improvise. My studio is located in the Steele Creek area (South Charlotte) it is a modern,professional, and relaxed enviorment.You will learn how to read music correctly but you will also learn how to feel music and understand the workings of how everything fits together, this is where the magic happens for you will be able to start the process of composing, improvising and truly discovering yourself as a musician!

I would recommend anybody to Mr. Dan! I’ve seen real progression over the last 2 months I’ve been having lessons with him. Though learning piano is challenging, he makes it both fun and exciting.

I started taking piano lessons in December 2023, having no prior experience playing instruments or reading music. Mr. Dan started me out with the basics - musical theory and reading music - before jumping into my first song. When he told me I’d be playing my first song in three weeks, I was doubtful at first, but with practice and weekly lessons, I’m now working on my THIRD song. He has a wonderful ability to understand where your skill level is and to assign tasks and songs that challenge you, but not to a level where it’s frustrating or impossible for you as the student. I appreciate his laid-back and encouraging teaching style, especially when I mess up or a concept takes me longer to grasp. I highly recommend Mr. Dan for piano lessons - worth every penny!

Mr. Dan is very knowledgeable and I just love his style of teaching. He has years of experience that is evident in his lessons. He was able to identify my current level in Piano playing and adapt the lessons accordingly. I was able to play my first song while reading sheet music in my first week! I was looking for a specific kind of piano teacher for my 2 children, 10 and 12 years old. I wanted my children to learn to read music and be able to play classical style pieces, but I also wanted them to learn other styles and the basics they would need to be creative. Mr. Dan is the perfect teacher for this! We have taken a month's worth of lessons. His homework has been challenging for my children, but he is always helpful and encouraging when they play for him each week. They are learning the basics right now because they are beginners, but in class he shows them the kind of fun they will be able to have when they get the basics down. I am seriously considering taking lessons myself! I highly recommend Mr. Dan!

Studied music theory, improvisation, and jazz at the Robert S Harris music academy 6 years. Played professionally from 1976 to 1998 and had further studies with Claire Ritter in 2001. For most of my life, I have been playing music for 50 years and counting! It's been a blessing and to pass the gift to others even more so.
